Art History

Hello! I am pretty much done with this one, but I wanted to get some feedback. I chose expressionism for my art history project, and did my take on LeRoy Neiman's style(an expressionist). I put examples below of his work, along with a (kind of bad) picture and close-ups of mine. I am wondering whether I should add more layers on the zebras, so please let me know your opinion! Also if there is anything else you see that I could improve, add, that you like, that bothers you, or whatever, comments are welcome! Thanks!

  1. I really like the colors you used! I'm not a drawing person so I don't know if this makes sense but I would suggest adding more contrast between the zebras and the background because they seem to blend in a little too much and make it a little difficult to see the zebras.

  2. That was another thing I was wondering, and I asked my mom about it. She's like "No!" haha, I should really stick to opinions from here...Thank you for mentioning that! I will definitely try to fix that.

  3. I think more contrast would be good. Your zebras blend so much into the background b/c the colors are so similar. Unlike Neiman's pieces...the animals pop from the background b/c they are complementary colors, or more/less contrast. So I would do something to help separate the zebras a bit w/ color...maybe do something like the last tiger....dark around the bodies and fade it out a bit as it gets further away from the zebras???
