Figurative Compisition
So I finished my figurative piece, and I'm not sure how I feel about the background, like is it too plain? Or do you think there is too much contrast with the dark grey?
This is a picture of before I started and just the basic outline of what I was doing.
It's not the best picture, but I feel like the background is too plain and dark, any ideas of what I could do for this?
I actuallylike it as is, i think the plain background looks really good and brings attention to the body. If you want to add something i would suggest doing something subtle so that it doesnt take attention away from the figure, this is just my opinion though and it will look great either way, good job!
I like the idea of a soft/subtle background. Maybe a gradient where it fades softly from black to grey (maybe use black pastel)? If you want to bring the piece in to school tomorrow we can make some photo copies of it and try some variations before actually doing something on the piece itself.

ReplyDeleteIf you prefer to do something subtle, I would suggest having like a background w a slight spotlight so it'll give the background some highlights.
