Caroline, this is so fun! i like the composition of the piece. i don't think you are done but i would push the contrast a little more within the girl and the little fairies.
I love the woods and how free-spirited this looks...I don't know, but I think a bit of a yellow glow from the lanterns could add a nice amount of contrast and make it look more like firelight, ie not daylight. -Erin
This is really neat, i love the idea. But I would try pushing contrast more around her legs and feet and to show off the fairies even more. Her dress blends in with her legs a bit too, but that might've just been the lighting. Great job though, love it
Whoa! Someone's creeping in the background! Didn't even notice him the first time I saw this. The girl's right arm feels too long to me. I think you should make the background darker so there's more of a spotlight effect on the girl.
The dress looks wonderful. Darker strokes in the hair would help the contrast greatly. I also think you should consider raising the height of the darker trees in the distance right now they only extend to roughly the height of the knees of the guy in the back but I think they would be taller than that. Additionally I think it might be difficult for the viewer to understand that the smaller fairies are dancing around a larger fairy. I'm not too familiar with all the different types of fairies but it might help to give her wings similar to the fairies on the ground. the tone is great though, the fairies really seem to radiate freedom and wonder while the forest holds a more somber feel!
Just keep adding the color. More blue between the trees and I like Erin's suggestion of the yellow glow from around the fairies (on her legs and maybe bottom of her dress).
Keep pushing contrast in her hair and those fine details. Nice work so far!
