Cam, this looks good! i think you could push the contrast further and blend the lead and charcoal together. and maybe add some more shadow to ground him. awesome job though!
That is a good point. The background is probably going to be primarily white because of the sea of pills. I'd been using the base blue to be a basic shade between the white charcoal and black conte. I should figure out how to push the contrast and add in some really deep shadows. I think I'll push the shadow beneath the head and hand more. Thanks!
the proportions look good the only thing i could work on is the contrast a little more. it might just be the way it was photographed but you could bring out more shadows in the hairand shirt and more high lights on the face under the eye and lower ear .
I think that you captured the expression on his face really accurately. I also really like the detail in the hair. I'm not sure if you're still working on the background but right now it's kind of difficult to tell what it is. Other than that, awesome job!
I think the dark color of the hair will contrast nicely with his face and the white pills surrounding him. I think it might give the picture a greater sense of depth if the most distant pills sort of blend together while the closer pills (out of the bottle and the closest part of the sea) were even more distinguished. It might also help to really smooth out the textures on the bottle/label. The figure looks great though, the hand and everything seems to come in and just the right place!
I think some shading to make it obvious that the pills are coming out of the water will help too. And remember to keep in mind perspective as things are going further away from the body-getting smaller and less detailed. So have a few more detailed right up around/behind him and then lessen the detail/make the smaller as they get further away.

ReplyDeleteI love the detail. I actually think this could use some really dark blacks in the deepest shadows, adding more contrast in the process.

ReplyDeleteGenius. I love it. I mean not the meaning behind it of course but the way you put this together is brilliant good job.
